About Duke CQBD
The Duke Center for Quantitative BioDesign (CQBD) was established in 2022. The Center’s mission is to promote research excellence and scholarship at the nexus of quantitative biology, synthetic biology, and machine learning.
Our Vision
The Duke Center for Quantitative BioDesign is a community of research labs working at the frontier of two major aspects of biological design, using a combination of mathematical modeling, machine learning, and quantitative experiments.
First, we explore the design principles of biomolecules, signaling, and gene regulatory networks operating in individual cells, or interaction networks consisting of interacting cells and cell populations in time and in space. Second, we create synthetic systems at these different levels for diverse applications in broad areas, including biotechnology, computation, environment, and medicine.
Through advancing research frontiers, the Center will provide a platform to facilitate the career advancement of affiliated students and postdocs.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Community
The Center is committed to providing a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community for all participating faculty, staff, researchers, and students at all levels.
